Take greater control of your household energy with the SOFAR HYD 5000-EP / 6000-EP Single Phase Hybrid Inverter.
Designed to combine solar generation, battery storage, grid electricity and backup power within one intelligent system, the SOFAR HYD helps you use more of the solar energy your home produces and reduce reliance on electricity purchased from the grid.
Available in 5kW and 6kW, it's a strong choice for Australian single-phase homes looking for a battery-ready solar system with backup capability.
Your solar panels often generate their most electricity during the day when household demand may be relatively low.
Instead of simply exporting that excess electricity, the SOFAR HYD can charge a compatible battery so the stored energy is available for use later.
That means more of your own solar can be used in the evening, overnight or during other periods when solar production is low β helping increase solar self-consumption and reduce grid dependence.
The HYD 5000-EP and HYD 6000-EP are designed to operate with compatible low-voltage battery storage systems.
With a 42β58V battery operating range and up to 100A maximum charging and discharging current, the inverter provides substantial battery charging capability for residential energy-storage applications.
Both models support up to 5kW battery charging and discharging power.
Add a compatible battery and correctly configured backup circuit and the SOFAR HYD can provide EPS backup power when the electricity grid goes down.
With a default transfer time of approximately 10ms, the inverter is designed to switch rapidly from grid operation to backup supply, helping keep designated essential loads operating during an outage.
Two independent MPPT trackers provide greater flexibility when designing your rooftop solar system.
This is particularly useful for homes with solar panels installed across different roof orientations or separate strings.
The system provides a wide 90β550V MPPT operating range and supports up to 600V maximum PV input voltage.
Both models allow the solar array to be oversized relative to the inverter's rated AC output:
| Model | Rated Output | Recommended Max. PV |
|---|---|---|
| HYD 5000-EP | 5kW | 7.5kWp |
| HYD 6000-EP | 6kW | 9kWp |
This gives homeowners greater flexibility when designing a system to maximise daytime solar production.
The SOFAR HYD is designed to efficiently convert the electricity generated by your solar panels into usable household energy.
The series offers up to 97.8% maximum inverter efficiency and up to 99.9% MPPT efficiency, helping minimise unnecessary conversion losses.
Multiple operating modes allow the system to intelligently manage electricity between your solar panels, battery, household and grid.
Depending on system configuration, this allows you to prioritise solar self-consumption, battery charging and other energy-management strategies rather than simply operating as a conventional solar-only inverter.
The HYD Series provides smart communications and monitoring options, allowing homeowners and installers to keep track of system performance.
Communication options include RS485, CAN and Wi-Fi, with optional Ethernet and 4G connectivity depending on system configuration.
With an IP65-rated enclosure, the SOFAR HYD is designed for flexible residential installation environments.
Its compact wall-mounted design combines the solar inverter and battery-management functionality into one integrated unit, helping create a cleaner and simpler solar-and-storage installation.

All our products are covered by the Manufacturer's Warranty, which guarantees that they will be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service. The specific terms and duration of the warranty may vary depending on the product and the manufacturer. Please refer to the product's documentation or contact our customer support team for detailed warranty information.
Warranty Claim Process
In the unfortunate event that you encounter a faulty product, we want to make the warranty claim process as seamless as possible for you. To initiate a warranty claim, please follow these steps:
If damage is confirmed to be from normal wear-and-tear, drops, unauthorized repairs, or other non-warranty factors, service and shipping fees will apply. In such cases, we will contact the customer for approval before proceeding with paid repairs.
Unfortunately we cannot provide loaner units during the warranty repair process. For mission-critical equipment, we highly recommend purchasing backup units to prevent downtime in case of defects.
You have 30 calendar days to return an item from the date you received it.
To be eligible for a return:
Upon receiving your order, we kindly request that you thoroughly inspect all packages within 7 days of delivery. This inspection period is crucial as it allows you ample time to identify any visible damage caused during transit. Please keep in mind that promptly reporting any freight damage is vital in safeguarding your right to file a claim and ensuring a swift resolution.
Should you identify any freight damage during the inspection, we urge you to notify us immediately. Our customer support team is ready to assist you through the claim filing process and provide the necessary guidance to ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience.
The advertised price for this product includes the applicable STC battery rebate, applied as a pre-discount at the time of purchase.
To be eligible for the battery rebate:
Supply-only purchases are not eligible for the battery rebate.
By proceeding with this purchase, the customer agrees to assign all eligible Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) associated with the battery installation to Solar Battery Supermarket (or its nominated agent).
This assignment allows the rebate to be applied as a point-of-sale discount.
If the customer does not agree to assign the STCs, the full non-rebated price of the battery system will apply.
Installation by a licensed and accredited installer is mandatory to qualify for the rebate-adjusted price.
Standard metro installation is available from $500, subject to property assessment.
Additional works (including switchboard upgrades, long cable runs, or non-standard installations) may incur extra charges and will be quoted and approved prior to installation.
To assess eligibility and proceed with installation, the customer may be required to provide:
Failure to provide required information may delay installation or affect rebate eligibility.
This rebate offer does not limit your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
