The SolaX Binary BRY-A22D7 is an advanced smart EV charging and discharging solution designed for both single-phase and three-phase homes.
With up to approximately 7.4kW charging on 230V single phase and up to 22kW charging on 400V three phase, the Binary Series provides a flexible solution for Australian residential EV charging installations.
Unlike a conventional EV charger, the BRY-A22D7 also incorporates DC discharge functionality for compatible V2L electric vehicles. When integrated with compatible SolaX equipment, energy stored within the EV battery can become part of the home's wider solar, battery and backup energy system.
The BRY-A22D7 supports both 230V single-phase and 400V three-phase electrical supplies.
This makes the same charger suitable for a wide range of residential installations.
Single phase: up to approximately 7.4kW at 230V / 32A
Three phase: up to 22kW at 400V
Adjustable charging current: 6Aβ32A
Automatic switching between single and three phases
50Hz / 60Hz operation
The approximately 7.4kW single-phase figure is calculated from the datasheet's 230V and 32A ratings; the datasheet specifies an overall AC charging range of 1.4β22kW. Actual charging power depends on the connected EV and installation.
For properties equipped with three-phase power, the BRY-A22D7 can provide up to 22kW AC charging when supported by the vehicle and electrical installation.
For single-phase properties, the charger can operate from a standard 230V single-phase supply at up to 32A.
This means customers do not necessarily require three-phase power to install and use the Binary Series charger.
The Binary Series supports automatic switching between single-phase and three-phase operation.
This capability is particularly useful when integrating EV charging with solar generation, helping the system make better use of available renewable energy across different operating conditions.
The Binary Series goes beyond conventional one-way EV charging by supporting energy discharge from compatible V2L electric vehicles.
When correctly integrated with a compatible SolaX inverter and energy system, energy stored inside the EV battery can be discharged for use within the home.
DC discharge specifications include:
Up to 7kW DC discharge power
400V nominal DC output
Up to 17.5A DC output current
7kW output specified above 350Vdc
Compatible V2L vehicle support
Actual charging and discharging power depends on the connected vehicle. The charger's DC output must also be connected to a compatible inverter.
When used with compatible equipment, the Binary Series allows energy stored in a supported EV battery to become part of the home's wider energy ecosystem.
Rather than using the vehicle only as an electrical load, the system is designed to allow compatible EVs to participate in charging and discharging alongside solar PV, home loads, battery storage and the grid. The system architecture is illustrated on page 1 of the SolaX datasheet.
The Binary Series supports black-start functionality, allowing the EV battery to be used as a backup energy source for the home when used with compatible equipment and a supported vehicle.
This provides another potential source of stored energy alongside a conventional home battery system.
The BRY-A22D7 is designed to integrate with the SolaX PV and energy storage ecosystem.
SolaX highlights the ability to maximise surplus green-energy utilisation in zero-export systems and describes the solution as capable of 100% green-energy operation when sufficient renewable energy is available.
Dynamic load balancing helps coordinate EV charging with the electrical demand from other household appliances.
This allows the charger to operate as part of the home's broader energy management system rather than functioning as an isolated high-power electrical load.
The SolaX Binary Series provides intelligent control over when the vehicle charges and, where supported, when energy is discharged.
