The SolaX X1-VAST-5K is a next-generation 5kW single-phase residential hybrid inverter designed for high-performance solar, battery storage, whole-home backup and future smart energy applications.
Featuring up to 200% PV oversizing, dual battery ports, three independent MPPTs, 20A PV input per MPPT, <10ms backup switchover and IP66 protection, the X1-VAST is designed for modern Australian homes requiring a powerful and expandable solar and battery solution.
The X1-VAST platform is also V2G/V2H ready for future smart home energy integration, making it particularly relevant for homes planning to integrate solar, battery storage and compatible bidirectional EV charging.
The X1-VAST-5K is specifically rated at 4.999kVA for the Australian market.
Key specifications include:
4.999kVA rated output in Australia
230V single-phase operation
21.8A rated output current
Up to 10kWp recommended PV array
Three independent MPPT trackers
20A maximum PV input current per MPPT
600V maximum PV input voltage
50V low startup voltage
Β
The X1-VAST-5K supports up to 10kWp of recommended PV array capacity, effectively allowing up to 200% PV oversizing relative to its nominal 5kW inverter capacity.
This provides greater flexibility when designing larger residential solar arrays and systems intended to produce more energy for battery charging, EV charging and daytime household consumption.
Unlike many conventional 5kW residential inverters, the X1-VAST-5K incorporates three independent MPPT trackers with one PV string per tracker.
This provides additional flexibility for complex rooftops with panels installed across different orientations or roof sections.
PV specifications include:
3 independent MPPTs
1 string per MPPT
20A maximum input current per MPPT
25A maximum short-circuit current per MPPT
40β560V operating range
360V rated PV input
600V maximum PV voltage
50V startup voltage
Β
A major feature of the X1-VAST platform is its dual battery-port architecture.
This provides greater flexibility when expanding the home's battery storage system and can reduce complexity when connecting multiple compatible batteries.
The inverter supports:
Dual battery ports
Lithium batteries
80β480V battery operating range
25A per port when two separate batteries are connected
30A when using one battery port
Up to 50A when both ports connect to one battery through the optional 2-in-1 splitter cable
Β
The X1-VAST is designed to support whole-home loads without requiring additional devices and provides dedicated EPS backup output when used with compatible battery storage.
For the Australian X1-VAST-5K:
Rated EPS output: 4.999kVA
Peak EPS output: up to 2Γ rated power for 10 seconds
EPS switchover: <10ms
230V backup output
UPS-level switchover performance
Β
The X1-VAST platform is designed with future Vehicle-to-Home and Vehicle-to-Grid integration in mind.
SolaX lists the inverter as:
V2H ready
V2G ready
Designed for smart home energy integration
This makes the X1-VAST particularly interesting for customers considering future integration between their EV, solar system, home battery and household energy consumption.
SolaX marks this functionality as a feature to be upgraded in the future, so V2H/V2G operation should not be represented as an immediately available function without confirming the applicable firmware, charger and vehicle compatibility.
The X1-VAST includes advanced energy-management functionality designed to optimise when and how household energy is used.
Smart features include:
Smart Schedule
Smart Scene
24/7 Time-of-Use management
Wireless meter compatibility
Whole-home load support
VPP-ready architecture
OpenADR compatibility
IEEE 2030.5 compatibility
FCAS capability
API integration
Some advanced features are identified by SolaX as future upgrades and may depend on market availability and system configuration.
The X1-VAST is designed to support generator and microgrid integration, providing additional flexibility for resilient and off-grid energy systems.
This makes the inverter suitable for customers looking beyond a conventional grid-connected solar installation toward more sophisticated energy independence solutions.
The X1-VAST can provide up to 200% EPS output for 10 seconds.
This additional short-duration capacity can assist with appliances and equipment that require higher startup power than their normal running consumption.
The X1-VAST range achieves maximum inverter efficiency of up to 97.6%, helping maximise the conversion of available solar and stored battery energy.
With an IP66 ingress protection rating, the X1-VAST provides a high level of protection against dust and water ingress.
Additional environmental specifications include:
IP66 protection
-35Β°C to +60Β°C operating temperature
Derating above 45Β°C
Maximum operating altitude of 3,000m
4β100% relative humidity
Natural cooling
Β
Protection features include:
DC isolation protection
DC reverse-polarity protection
Residual current detection
Over-temperature protection
Type II DC surge protection
Type II AC surge protection
Optional AFCI
